The world of yacht design continues to evolve, opening up to new forms of cross-pollination between yachting, architecture, interior design, technology and lifestyle. It is precisely from this dialogue between disciplines that SHARED WORLDS was born: the format conceived by THE ONE Yacht & Design with Platinum eXperience, the events division of Platinum Media Lab, in collaboration with IED Milano.
The second edition of the event took place on 11 June 2026 at Spazio Teatro IED, confirming the vocation of SHARED WORLDS as a platform for exchange between shipyards, yacht designers, architects, design companies and industry professionals.
The title chosen for this edition, “The revolution is already on board. Outdoor living & entertainment: how yacht design and the guest experience are evolving, also thanks to AI”, placed at the heart of the debate some of the most current themes in contemporary yacht design: the new relationship between interiors and exteriors, the evolution of the onboard experience, the role of entertainment and the perspectives opened up by Artificial Intelligence.
SHARED WORLDS: a dialogue between complementary worlds
Following the first edition in 2025, dedicated to the relationship between yachting, architecture and interior design, SHARED WORLDS returned to bring together different yet deeply connected realities.
The contemporary yacht is increasingly becoming a place of synthesis between design expertise, technical innovation, the culture of living and aesthetic research. On board, functional needs, individual desires, comfort, performance, technology and craftsmanship come together.
In this scenario, dialogue between shipyards, designers and design companies becomes essential. The most compelling solutions often arise from the encounter between different fields: from residential to hospitality, from contract to wellness, from lighting design to entertainment, through to the new possibilities offered by digital tools and AI.
The second edition of SHARED WORLDS set out to explore precisely these connections, creating a qualified context for exchange among professionals invited to imagine the future of the onboard experience.
The education of young designers in the age of AI
The event’s programme opened with a dialogue with Francesco Paszkowski, Founder di Francesco Paszkowski Design, in conversation with Désirée Sormani, Managing Director of THE ONE Yacht & Design.
The conversation, dedicated to “The education of young designers in the age of Artificial Intelligence”, introduced one of the cross-cutting themes of the entire day: the relationship between design skills, new technologies and the future of the profession.
At a time when AI is transforming the tools, processes and languages of design, the education of young designers takes on a central role. It is not only a matter of learning how to use new technologies, but of developing critical thinking, vision, design culture and an awareness of the real needs of the industry.
The dialogue opened a reflection on how yacht design can continue to evolve without losing its most authentic dimension: one built on listening, experience, design sensitivity and the ability to interpret complex desires.
Outdoor Living: the new continuity between interiors and exteriors
The first panel, “Outdoor Living – How the yacht is lived outdoors today: a new continuity between interior and exterior spaces in contemporary yachts”, addressed one of the most evident transformations in yacht design in recent years.
Exterior spaces are no longer considered simple accessory areas, but environments to be lived with the same intensity and design care as interiors. Decks, beach clubs, lounge areas, dining zones, swimming pools and relaxation spaces become central places in the onboard experience, helping to redefine the way owners and guests live the yacht.
The panel, moderated by Désirée Sormani, featured:
- Federico Rossi, CEO Rossinavi
- Arch. Marijana Radovic, Co-Founder m2atelier
- Arch. Antonio Rodriguez, Co-Founder Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez
- Giulia Molteni, Chief Marketing Officer Molteni&C
- Valeria Bianchet, Project Manager Contract Unit Moroso
The discussion highlighted the growing permeability between residential architecture, hospitality and yacht design. The yacht is increasingly becoming a fluid space, where interior and exterior engage in dialogue through materials, finishes, furnishings, openings, views and pathways.
Within this new vision, outdoor design assumes a strategic role: not only to ensure comfort and functionality, but to build experiences that are consistent with contemporary lifestyle. The design of exterior spaces requires solutions capable of combining aesthetics, durability, personalisation and technical performance, without compromising the quality of living.
Sponsor Spotlight: visions and expertise in dialogue
Between the two panels, the event included a dedicated moment for the presentation of several sponsor companies, protagonists of the dialogue between design, innovation and project culture.
The speakers were:
- Valentina D’Agata, Business Development Manager Altraluce International, introducing Beyond Illumination project
- Gianfranco Barban, President Teckell
- Gianluca Spinozzi, Business Developer Cantori
This moment offered the opportunity to highlight the contribution of companies that, through specialised expertise, material research, technology and attention to detail, take part in shaping new scenarios of living, including on board.
Experience & Entertainment: a new way of living onboard spaces
The second panel, “Experience & Entertainment – The new concept of the use of onboard spaces”, shifted the focus to the guest experience and the new functions of the contemporary yacht.
Today, onboard spaces are increasingly designed to accommodate different activities, desires and moments: relaxation, wellbeing, fitness, entertainment, conviviality, privacy, discovery, work and hospitality. Design is no longer only about the distribution of spaces, but about the creation of personalised and memorable experiences.
The panel featured:
- Vasco Buonpensiere, Co-Founder and CEO Cantiere delle Marche
- Ing. Giovanni Parronchi, Head of Naval Project Management LUCA DINI Design Architecture
- Arch. Massimo Roj, Founding Partner & CEO Progetto CMR
- Daniela D’Errico, Architecture & Interior Design Business Development Manager Technogym
- Elsa Carideo, Retail Manager Bang & Olufsen Milan Flagship Store
- Fabio Signorelli, Founder & CEO Edilfare Piscine
The discussion showed how the onboard experience is increasingly the result of integrated design, in which architecture, technology, sound, wellness, outdoor systems, swimming pools, fitness and entertainment all contribute to defining new models of comfort.
The superyacht is thus confirmed as a space of the highest personalisation, capable of reflecting the owner’s lifestyle and anticipating trends that also extend across the residential and hospitality worlds.
AI, innovation and design culture
A theme running throughout the day was Artificial Intelligence, addressed not simply as a technological trend, but as a tool capable of opening new possibilities in design, visualisation, concept development and the management of creative processes.
In the context of yacht design, AI can help accelerate certain phases of work, support the generation of scenarios, improve process efficiency and broaden the possibilities for experimentation. At the same time, the discussion confirmed the centrality of human expertise: design vision, aesthetic sensitivity and creative ability remain essential elements.
The revolution, therefore, is already on board, but it does not replace design. It accompanies it, enriches it and expands its tools.
Exhibition area and networking
Completing the event, an exhibition area presented iconic objects, selected products and design solutions from the companies involved, creating a tangible dialogue between the themes explored on stage and the physical dimension of the product.
The exhibition area offered participants the opportunity to come into direct contact with materials, technologies, furnishings and solutions conceived to interpret new scenarios of contemporary living, also in relation to the nautical world.
The closing networking aperitif then encouraged exchange among speakers, companies, partners and guests, strengthening the relational nature of SHARED WORLDS: not only an event for in-depth discussion, but a meeting place for expertise, visions and opportunities.
With its second edition, SHARED WORLDS confirms its role as an appointment dedicated to dialogue between kindred worlds. The 2026 edition showed how the future of living on board increasingly depends on the ability to integrate different skills, interpret new needs and build tailor-made experiences.
Heartfelt thanks go to IED Milano, to all the speakers, to the sponsor and partner companies, and to all the participants who contributed to making this second edition a moment of exchange, connection and inspiration.
